CHILE MISSION May Prayer Needs & Praises

“40 + 10 = Launch JESUS’ CHURCH”

He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates that the Father has set by his own authority.  But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”  After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. –Acts 1:7-9

In the 40 days following his resurrection before ascending into heaven the gospels share several accounts of Jesus’ appearances to others, and Luke tells us in verse three of Acts chapter one that after Jesus appeared to his disciples for a period of those same 40 days, giving them special instructions including to stay in Jerusalem to wait for the gift of the Holy Spirit before going out into the world to be his witnesses. We know that day as PENTECOST SUNDAY (50th day after Jesus’ resurrection).  The events of Pentecost are incredible, just as is our task as his BODY/CHURCH in the world!!!  WE’VE BEEN “LAUNCHED” EVER SINCE THE VERY FIRST PENTECOST SUNDAY with the SAME HOLY SPIRIT POWER INSIDE OF US and it’s that launching that takes us to Chile and to everywhere else and to right where we live and work.

This year, May 14th marks Jesus’ Ascension and May 24th marks Pentecost Sunday.  May we ALL feel renewed by HOLY SPIRIT POWER, that the whole world may know and follow Jesus Christ.  It takes a lot of prayer, to be sure, and we so give God thanks for your steady prayers for CHILE MISSION and for the whole CHILE MISSION TEAM!  THANK YOU!!  We, in turn, are praying for you!

We have several new photos to share regarding the construction of the maintenance building, but first and even more important, we give thanks for the impending new CHILE MISSION team members to work with Abraham & Catalina on the camp property.  Our CHILE MISSION board of Directors recently met (via Google Meet) and we approved Cesar’s hiring.  We included a photo last month of Cesar, Shlomit, and their little girl Liz.  Cesar and his family will be visiting Abraham & Catalina later this month.

The tentative plan is for Cesar to start working with Abraham in July, making periodic trips back to Santiago where Shlomit will postpone her and Liz’s move to the south until after the winter rains are done and the apartment space inside of the maintenance shed is complete.  Significant prayer points include:

  • Understanding their move as a specific kingdom calling to be a key part in the development of this important Christian Camp in the middle of Chile.
  • The ability of Abraham and Cesar to define their work and team roles in line with their individual giftings in being team together, along with the adjustment of the two families.  We pray for their team solidarity.
  • Prayer coverage over all of them against Satan’s hatred of Jesus’ gospel message.  We’d LOVE to begin receiving children and/or teens this next year!
  • Continued open doors at every turn in opening and maintaining good, needed merchant & personal relationships in the surrounding area.
  • Finances needed to cover the new salary of Cesar and increased salary of Abraham.  Each will be earning just over $1,000 per month as take-home pay.  We already pay Abraham, but he will receive a slight raise.  We so give God thanks for our steady prayer AND financial support, especially now in the construction phase we are now entering.

Speaking of Camp Teams, we have new photos of the maintenance building project now ready for its cement base and supporting pillars.  Thank you for praying with us for the safety and successful work of all involved in the construction, including Abraham.

IN SANTIAGO

The CHILE MISSION Refuge House Dulce Refugio for Chileans coming to Santiago for treatment of themselves or of a family member continues to be a blessing for Chileans arriving from various parts of the country.  We recently gave God BIG THANKS for Dominíc’s celebrating his FOURTH BIRTHDAY!!  We started including him in our prayers and prayer letters just over four years ago when Dominíc was born with many of his internal organs out of place, including his heart.  His parents were told to prepare to say “goodbye” to him, as he would not live long.  Here below is the last photo of him, taken 6 months ago.  TYL!! for the life he and his family have had together, as we continue to pray that his doctors would be able to proceed with the best plan for him.

While still in Chile in April, we had the pleasure of helping Juli celebrate her 25th birthday!  She was one of the nine children who lived on our Santiago mission site between 2010 and 2013, ending 13 years ago and she is one of those children who are still in contact with Janine.  What a special day for Juli!  All of the nine are now adults and need prayer, as it is so hard to break “the molds and mindsets” they’ve grown up in as young children.

While in Chile Janine also helped Carolina finish repairing and re-upholstering a couch and chairs from one of the four houses.  There’s always something to work on. 😊

Rejoicing, praying, and giving thanks to our One True “FOREVER LAUNCHING” God,

Jack & Janine
