“EVERYONE EVERYWHERE!!”
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. –2 Peter 3:8-9
Verse 9 above contains two HUGE encouragements for us all:
- In the Bible, repentance means “a fundamental change of mind, heart, and direction that turns a person away from sin and toward God” and in Romans and elsewhere repentance is a decision tied to being baptized and to following Jesus. We (Jack & Janine) sure can identify with this in remembering when we took this step and were baptized in our late 30s!! Boy has God been patient with US! 😊
- Given Jesus’ “Great Commission” command to his disciples (passed on to us), we might add the word ANYWHERE to say “not wanting anyone ANYWHERE to perish”.
God’s Great Worldwide Saving Mission speaks directly to our common identity as Christians and reason to “stay in step with Jesus” in this world. No wonder why God put us in Chile and you where you live!! Thank you SO MUCH for your continuing support of CHILE MISSION with your prayers and finances!!
SANTIAGO
We are glad to report that in Santiago there has been an increase in the number of Chileans that have been staying at our Dulce Refugio Refuge House. Carolina reported that she recently received six women and four men, one of whom who is Rodrigo who is still waiting for his surgery date to remove the tumor on his kidney, now scheduled for the first part of September.
Carolina, with husband Julián, continue to meet weekly with all residents together to talk over housekeeping details of their stay, to have them share together about their medical situations, and to encourage and pray with them using a passage of Scripture. Some of the residents were released by their doctors this past week to go home and another couple went home for the weekend but Rodrigo is still with us (pictured on the right) along with another couple, Mario & Jocelyn, awaiting fertilization treatment.
Your accompanying prayers for people staying at our mission refuge house are greatly appreciated! Each person’s circumstance is different, and we know that God loves and cares about each and every one of them and wants each to know his Son Jesus.
CAMP DEVELOPMENT
We’ve really enjoyed keeping you all up-to-date on our construction progress on the camp property in middle Chile along with the exciting news of Cesar & Shlomit joining Abraham & Catalina as new CHILE MISSION teammates to work in team together! It’s very heartening to see these developments take place as we approach summer and the new year. Please pray with us for how we can begin day camps in January and February, along with young adult combined work/spiritual retreats. It’s now extremely rainy in the area—remember that it is winter!– but the construction crew of four were able to complete the maintenance building with walls and roof and cement floor before the rain deluge! TYL!!
As seen below, Abraham & Cesar are finishing some of the final outside details on the building before moving inside to begin construction of the office/housing where Cesar and family will begin living in the coming months. We are also giving God big thanks, as Shlomit and their little girl Liz recently came down from Santiago and the two families spent an entire week together! Aaaah, to be young again and on track with the Lord! 😊 Thanks for your continuing prayers for this new Chile Mission team relationship in formation!
NEW STATESIDE DEVELOPMENTS
We are excited and hopeful to have some new auction contacts and other references in our search for industrial kitchen components to send inside of our next Chile-bound shipping container! Should God make such equipment available in our area it would also make possible the shipping of the second container toward the end of this year. The sending of our first container went well and we look forward to sending a second one full of donated items for the camp (in God’s timing). We pray for God’s provision and he has been SO FAITHFUL through CHILE MISSION supporters and divine appointments with others!
CHILE MISSION also continues to receive special one-time contributions toward the camp development, for which we are VERY grateful!! Abraham is extremely careful and diligent in finding the best way to proceed in constructing and buying materials, and he and Janine regularly talk out those options and ideas. We have several huge expenses coming up in our construction project, so please keep us in mind with your donations.
We are looking forward to being in Chile for the whole month of October, splitting our time between Santiago and the camp property. Among the issues to be addressed are:
- Opening a checking account in the name of the mission.
- Spend time with Abraham & Cesar to encourage and foster their team formation and roles.
- Discuss camp development expectations for the remainder of the year.
- Set camp development goals for the first half of 2027.
- Plan toward hosting day camps and older youth spiritual working retreats in January and February.
ADDITIONAL “HELP WANTED” PLEA
We do now have three church-based mission trips to Chile in formation, and that is a HUGE praise! Perhaps you have been part of a work trip to help with the camp property development these past couple years and your Church per se isn’t planning a group trip in early 2027, but you have the time to come again. If so, please contact us as you are welcome to come and help and then perhaps travel a bit as well. We have a ton of progress to make in carpentry & construction and with our excavator & skid steer. Secondly, we still do seek a website savvy person to help us improve our marble people sales website (marblepeople.com). REALLY, we are serious!! 😊
And finally, along with the industrial kitchen donations, we are in the market for a smaller bulldozer for the camp—we’re sure a few of you have one sitting around—haha! It would need to fit in a 40 foot container. Please let us know, as we are in the market.
