CHILE MISSION October Prayer needs & Praise

“FOREVER PLANS & ETERNAL PURPOSES OF THE HEART”

The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the people.  But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.

The above verses 10 and 11 from Psalm 33 tell the truth about GOD’S ETERNAL PLANS AND PURPOSES with regard to his rescue and reconciliation of the entire world back to himself through his son JESUS, and we are SO GRATEFUL that Chile Mission is a part of those plans and purposes in Chile!!

We are also so HUGELY blessed to have you all as Prayer Partners in extending Jesus and sharing his name through our DULCE REFUGIO (“Sweet Refuge”) ministry in Santiago and in the development of our Christian Camp property CAMPO VIVO (“The Countryside Alive”) in the middle of rural Chile.  We likewise are VERY blessed to receive financial help from several of you in completing our work!  God would not miss one single opportunity to rescue and transform lives back to him!

The BIG NEWS in middle September was the picking up and transporting of our completely filled 40’ foot container to the Chicago’s rail terminal to be “trained” to the port at Norfolk, VA and then shipped to Chile.  We thought originally that it would leave from Long Beach, CA but the cost of leaving by ship from Norfolk was approximately $4,000 less.  TYL!!

We learned today that the container arrived in Norfolk THIS MORNING and will soon be on its way to the Panama Canal, and from there to the Chilean port located in Coronel, Chile, with an estimated date of arrival date of November 3rd.  Please pray first for the container’s safe arrival in Coronel and secondly for no complications when Abraham goes with the needed paperwork to release it from Chile’s customs authorities.  In the meantime, he is searching for a customs agent to help with port customs processing. As we have mentioned before, as a Chilean Foundation we should not have to pay normal taxes on the shipment.  Our prayer is that he is able to find a good agent with experience in helping Foundations such as ours.

GLORY HALLELUJAH for God’s faithfulness in completing his eternal salvation plans and purposes with so many needed donations in our development of CAMPO VIVO.  Here are photos taken on Sept. 18th:

Speaking of the development of CHILE MISSION’S camp property, we can’t let this opportunity escape to again ask you churches AND individuals to come to Chile in small groups to help us develop our property into a VERY EVANGELISTIC camp experience in the middle of the country!  Two Churches, two individuals, and several Mennonite mission teams came to help this past year and were a TREMENDOUS help in many ways.  What would God do in 2026??!!  Please come the first part (January through May) of 2026 if you can!  It’s an easier trip than you might think, and now we will even have a skid steer tractor and log splitter in action.  We would LOVE to welcome you and we will also help you plan.  Contact us at chilemission1@gmail.com

We are now in Colorado for one week spending time with friends and with Jayme & Malia and children before flying from here to Miami to spend three weeks in Chile beginning on October 7th.  As always, time in Chile is important with regards to CHILE MISSION people-encounters, planning, legal papers to sign, and in-person fellowship and prayer.  Our extended time in Chile comes each Chilean summer (Jan-Apr), and our Chile Team’s expectations are high in terms of more physical progress made on the camp property between December and May.  Our task as mutual Prayer Partners together with you couldn’t be more important!

Upon our return to the Midwest going into November we will be on the road again en route to this year’s ICOM Missions Conference in Atlanta with our van loaded as always with a multitude of our Chilean-made marble figures and sets for our annual Chile booth. 🙂  The dates of this year’s Conference are November 20th through the 22nd.  We will be stopping to visit with individuals and churches on the way to share and pray about God’s faithfulness through our mission.

You may ask, “Why ICOM?”  If we as Christians and as Churches take Jesus’ World Ministry out of the Great Commission, what exactly would God’s response look like?  He has called some of us to be “those hands and feet” in other places, but he has called ALL of us to be “supporting ligaments” and senders.  ICOM is that once-a-year gathering of Christians that fosters the calling of future missionaries outside of the local church, that equips and strengthens individuals and churches to better foster and carry out Jesus’ Great Commission, that brings us in touch with missions and missionaries throughout the world, and that provides one-of-a-kind fellowship of Like-Minded Christians.  Is it a requirement to go??  By all means, no.  Is it worth attending??  By all means, YES!!

Besides, where else can you visit two very-on-board Chile missionaries and their helpers at their annual ICOM booth complete with thousands of irresistible, low-priced Chilean hand-made and hand-painted adorable marble figures and sets?? 🙂  All profit goes toward our work in Chile.  Here are some typical ICOM photos:

CHILE MISSION Sept. new prayer needs and praise for God’s responses

“Every supporting ligament”

From him (Jesus Christ) the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.  –Eph. 4:16

Many of you can relate to the above verse.  Perhaps you’ve been the beneficiary of the work and outreach of someone in the church, and perhaps you are that person who works and does the outreach.  What a blessing to God are church members fully in motion, as no matter what our age Jesus has work for us to do in supporting his Church and his Kingdom Work.  ALL of you who continue to pray for us and for CHILE MISSION are our Supporting Ligaments!!  THANK YOU!!

Speaking of supporting ligaments, we are SO grateful for the several men who have been helping fill our 40’ shipping container, now 90% complete!!  TYL!!  They have carried boxes from our house and have positioned and secured everything in the container.  They are from different churches, gladly serving our Lord and Savior as his Kingdom Supporting Ligaments together.  Scott, who sold us the skid steer and attachments, arrived with it from Tennessee despite two flat tires in route, and after positioning it inside the container, the men helping were able to drain it of its diesel fuel after two unsuccessful tries. 🙂

In addition, our Christian shipping agent recently called to tell us that all is ready at the Chicago Rail Yard to receive the container.  YAY!!  It must be delivered there between Sept. 17th and Sept. 21st.  We do have a trucking company arranged for that will pick up our loaded container and deliver it to the Rail Yard between those dates, and God gets the glory for it all.  Once loaded onto the train it will be delivered in Long Beach CA for shipping to the Chilean port closest to our camp property.

Please pray with us for the completion of all of the above.  The container and contents will be insured through our shipping agent for their market value.  The HUGE PRAISE is that all of the contents, with the exception of the $10,000 paid for the skid steer and all of its attachments (a really low price!) were donations toward the development of the camp and camp property.  In addition to the skid steer and log splitter are a wide range of needed tools, along with furniture, chairs, & mattresses ready to use in our future cabins and dining hall.

In the meantime, Chilean customs paperwork is also being put in order.  With God’s blessing, our mission is a tax exempt Foundation in Chile and thus should not pay duty in receiving the shipment.  Another important prayer point to be sure!  We’ll be in Chile for three weeks beginning on October 7 and there is a possibility that our container will arrive to the port during October while we are there.  If not, Abraham will be able to sign for it and transport it to our camp property.

FROM SANTIAGO, Carolina recently sent a photo of Marjorie & her husband Carlos.  She is recuperating on our mission site after being operated on to repair a brain aneurysm.  They are from northern Chile and we give God thanks that they are Christians.

Also pictured are Alejandra & her mother Carolina.  She has undergone knee surgery in Santiago and while we give God thanks for that, we more importantly pray that they would know come to know Jesus as well and become linked to a church where they live in far southern Punta Arenas, Chile.  The “Sweet Refuge” houses on our Santiago mission site serve as an important ministry to young and old alike to both make Jesus known and to strengthen the faith of all who come to stay with us.

SPRING AND INDEPENDENCE DAY  Finally, all Chileans no matter where they live are grateful to be entering September with spring right around the corner.  Winter cold and rain is almost behind them and although the night time temperatures hardly ever dip below 30 degrees Fahrenheit, typical Chilean construction does not include insulation or double-paned glass and neither do they have furnaces, but rather small roll-around propane heaters.  In middle Chile where our camp property is located and in southern Chile the winter can be extremely rainy as well.

Along with the better weather, September18th marks Chile’s Independence Day—celebrated with traditional Chilean dances and weeklong programs in schools.  This year it falls on a Thursday, with Friday also a holiday (Army Day) and festive celebrations in cities and small towns throughout the country continuing all weekend.  While national unity is good, these festivities unfortunately include much drinking, all in a country where Jesus in not known or followed by most.

Would you join us in praying for the work of ALL Christian churches and missions in Chile and in the world?  Only the “Light of Jesus” in all of us and in prayer can penetrate the spiritual darkness in any and every country and land in this world.  What a privilege and responsibility at the same time, no matter where one lives!  Thank you again for your prayers of us and for CHILE MISSION, that we would brightly shine with Jesus’ light long into the future!!  We in turn pray the same for each of you, as each and every one of us are ALL God’s Kingdom Supporting Ligaments!

Rejoicing, praying, and giving thanks to our “Eternal Jesus Light of the World” One, True God,

Jack & Janine
